How to check a product is genuine

  1. Look for the ISI mark on the product or box, with a licence number like CM/L-1234567. LED bulbs and drivers instead carry a BIS registration number like R-12345678.
  2. Verify the number in the free BIS Care app (Play Store / App Store) or on bis.gov.in. The brand name shown there should match the product.
  3. Scan the brand’s QR or hologram where the brand provides one (many wire brands do), using the brand’s official app.
  4. Always take a GST bill. You can check any GSTIN on the GST portal.
